My Camera

This is my camera.

cam

It cost $80 when we bought it 3 years ago.

It has a bunch of dust stuck in the lens.

Whenever I take pictures of the sky, the dust makes lots of dark spots in it.

I've tried using our little camera the best I can. I'd like to take better pictures to put here. We've tossed around the idea of getting a fancy camera from time to time. After looking at them, I'm not sure I would ever be able to figure out how to use one.

This is what I have for now and it's good to be content. I'm thankful for it, and I'll keep using it (probably until it works no more!). But maybe in the future we could move up to something a little fancier. I would love to be able to do some of the neat things I see out there with different ways of focusing...it takes so long to get anything even remotely close to that to come out of our little camera. And I love that bokeh stuff. I would like to be able to do that.

A major part of blogging for me is being creative in it, so taking the pictures is a big part of that. So is choosing the colors for my page and the fonts, etc. I enjoy that part of blogging a lot.

What about you? Do you have a fancy cam or a simple cam? If fancy, was it difficult to learn to use?

I have a simple point and snap cam and my husband has a fancy cam but it is also used just for point and snap pics. I would like to learn how to use it better as I am like you and want to try and get the same sorts of lovely photos I see on other peoples blogs but it is very tricky to learn without the manual (not sure where that is - I have never seen it). From time to time I have looked up on the internet to find instructions for his cam, but haven't been successful finding what I need as yet. It is definitely on my bucket list to learn more about photography as a hobby!

This is a timely post for me ... I just purchased a new camera yesterday from Amazon! My "old" camera was a Nikon Coolpix L20, their cheap model. I went through 2 of them and each had the same problem - the battery/memory card door broke. It would only take pictures when I held the door shut and the batteries keep falling out. I finally decided to get a new one and use that old broken one as emergency.

After doing a lot of research and reading reviews, the Canon Powershot Elph 300 for $199. It's about $100 more than I spent on my last one, but my husband encouraged me to focus on quality. When I skimped on quality, it didn't last. So I'm excited to see what the new camera will do. One thing, it has fancy settings but it is programmed to pick the right settings for you based on the light, the distance, the subjects. It will "self-pick" the right setting for me. We'll see how it does!

Wow, this is long but I have more to share! My husband bought an expensive Digital SLR camera with changeable lenses, but he's finding now he takes it out less since it's big and cumbersome. We would rather just use the point and click since you can still get quality photos, plus his can't take video. So we're more sold on the idea of a really good point and click camera (like the Canon I'm getting) instead of a bigger, more expensive one. Hope that helps!!

Love your photos here are authentic and bursting with beauty, and if your only doing that on an $80 three year old camera, girl, I shutter {teheee} to see how you will blow us away with something more hi-tech, btw: rebel is an awesome camera, settings can be adjusted to auto while you learn the ropes... Find one at Target.

* Tall Pipi, I'm sure it would be diffcult without the instructions. Everytime we've looked at them, they've seemed like a big puzzle with too many pieces to solve. ;)

*Grace Kay, I get what you mean. Sometimes I feel the same way, but I think we should just share what we have to share. Who cares if it's not the greatest thing out there. If people are just looking for the fancy exterior and not taking the time to see the heart behind what we share, then they'll always find something better to move onto. ..I'm saying that cause I need to hear it. ;)

*Tracey,
I hope your new camera works out great!! I can see your point about a bigger camera being a pain to take places. I hadn't thought of that. ..And we do use the video feature a lot to record little moments of Buzz. Maybe our best bet would be to own a little camera like we have, and then have a bigger camera for taking pretty pictures. My husband is really good at taking pictures. He has a way with angles, so I would love to see what he would come up with, with a really good camera. ..And I would enjoy trying it out too. :)

*Michaela,
Thank you for that encouragement!♥♥ And thanks for the camera recommendation! I'll be sure to check it out. Your photos are some that I really admire - they're always, always beautiful! :)
